Mirthday.

I turned 21 today at 10:19am. This would be exciting, considering it's the legal drinking age in the United States, but really I'm not so psyched about getting wasted because I've been drinking for at least 7 years now.

Anyway, I'm going to this place that has 112 beers on tap with some of my best friends in the world and it'll just be a blast because I'm the last of us to turn 21. Also, my boyfriend is here, and that's super-awesome too.

Screenplay writing.

Last night I wrote my first ever screenplay. It was 20 pages long (so, about a 20-minute long short film) and adapted from the Tim O'Brien short story, "The Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong," except it sucks in comparison to the actual story.

Anyway, I wish I could post it, because it's the first and probably last screenplay I'll ever write, but there would be serious copyright infringement going on there.

I hope my professor likes it.

After I take a final and turn in the aforementioned screenplay, I will finally be done with this semester. Thank. God. Now I can play as much World of Warcraft as I want!

The two things I learned from writing a screenplay:
1) Courier 12pt is really big.
2) Final Draft is idiot-proof.

My boyfriend is currently flying home for vacation and I have a 43 Things page now.

She dances kind of like Elaine Benes.

I saw Fiona Apple last night at the Orpheum. I forgot what total shambles the Orpheum was in. It was charming and all, but I thought the balcony was going to collapse out from under me. I bought a $35 "obstructed view" seat in the balcony, which ended up being as close as possible to the center, really close to the front (I was in row F) and not obstructed at all. I feel like I got a good deal.

I have wanted to see Fiona Apple live since 1996, so almost ten years later, was it everything I thought it would be? Hell yes. I was totally floored. Of course she played a lot from Extraordinary Machine, but she played basically everything I wanted to hear except for "Sullen Girl." I like the song, "Red Red Red" a lot more after hearing it live (I thought it was the weakest track on the new record).

Additionally, her band was really impressive. I thought her drummer was amazing.

For the curious, here's what she played (but listed from the albums, because I can't remember the actual setlist):
  • Extraordinary Machine
  • Get Him Back - pretty sure this was the first song.
  • O' Sailor
  • Better Version of Me
  • Tymps (The Sick in the Head Song)
  • Parting Gift - she played this as the last encore song.
  • Oh Well - in case you were wondering, this song was written when she found out about "the other woman."
  • Red Red Red
  • Not About Love
  • On the Bound
  • To Your Love - unsure, but my gut is telling me so
  • Limp
  • Paper Bag
  • Fast as You Can
  • Get Gone
  • I Know
  • Sleep to Dream
  • Criminal
  • Shadowboxer

Who doesn't love the Talking Heads?

I really enjoy the Classic Rock channel that comes with the Music Choice package from Comcast. It's really good to listen to when you're playing Warcraft.

Speaking of which, I'm starting to feel a lot more confident in my abilities in WoW. Tonight I played healer to a bunch of random strangers in a dungeon and I did pretty well. They liked me! I still think it's weird when people like me.

Now I'm drinking some wine leftover from last week (Nicole bought it), and just chilling out on a Friday night. I feel pretty good, actually. Those are that are familiar with my mental history know that be feeling "good," is fairly astounding.

Is it bad that I'm probably replacing normal social contact with people from the Internet and video games? I hope not. This is way more fulfilling than school is right now.

This site was the Dreamhost site of the month. I think it's worth a peek.
